As an elected official, Lamar is no stranger to standing up and fighting, even when it’s not easy or popular. 

 

He was born in prison, raised in foster care, and graduated high school not knowing how to read and write. Lamar played by the rules and fought his way through life, serving as a U.S. NAVY VETERAN, graduating from George Washington University, and becoming a public servant and healthcare executive.

 

As your councilmember:

• He fought to preserve open space and water resources by standing up to developers and by approving the construction of a $ 72 million desalination plant. 

​

• He fought to protect our community’s health and quality of life by leading the fight to double the size of our code enforcement team, invest an additional $2 million in recreational and youth programs, and devote resources to reducing homeless encampments.

​

• He fought to safely develop and regulate Antioch’s cannabis industry, ensuring dispensaries pay their fair share and promote minority participation in business/workforce opportunities. 

​

• He fought for fiscal responsibility, co-authoring the proposal that eliminated Antioch’s $12 million structural deficit and put us in a sound fiscal position for the next 20 years.

​

• He fought to keep Antioch safe by authorizing our police chief to hire 121 officers, while advancing meaningful police reform, and promoting youth programs to keep kids out of gangs and out of trouble.

 

Lamar's work isn’t done. As your MAYOR, Lamar will continue fighting to build Antioch into a community that you love as much as he and his family do, and where opportunity exists for all.
