I’m running for re-election to continue fighting to build an Antioch that’s inclusive of all people, with walkable, safe, thriving neighborhoods and a strong local economy. But it takes a fighter to deliver change for the future.
I’m no stranger to fighting. I was born in prison, raised in foster care, and graduated high school, unable to read or write. I fought through life, serving in the U.S. Navy, graduating from George Washington University, and being elected mayor. As your mayor:
- I fought to invest $2,300,000 to clean up dangerous encampments, transform the Executive Inn, known for crime, into transitional housing, and approve $4,000,000 to build 122 supportive housing units for homeless residents.
- I fought to strengthen our police department by rooting out officers who broke the public trust, increasing hiring standards, equipping officers with cameras, and approving a $56,000,000 budget.
- I fought against housing displacement by championing rent control and just-cause eviction laws to prevent children and families from falling into homelessness.
- I fought to strengthen our local economy by reactivating Antioch’s deep waterports with a marine terminal for AMPORTS, one of the world’s largest automotive shipping companies.
- I fought for $30,000 hiring bonuses, which helped recruit 34 diverse police officers to offset the loss of officers fired following the FBI investigation of the department.
- I fought for $10,000,000 to create youth intervention programs and the city’s Department of Public Safety and Community Resources to reduce gun violence, homelessness, and environmental injustices.
Our fight isn’t over. I humbly ask for your vote.
